《代微积拾级》是西方微积分著作的第一部中文译本。这本书由美国数学家 伊莱亚斯·卢米斯 (Elias Loomis) 撰写，并由英国传教士 伟烈亚力 (Alexander Wylie) 和中国著名数学家 李善兰 于1859年合译完成。
这本书中，数学符号都是用中文表述的，而非现在我们熟悉的拉丁字母、希腊字母和阿拉伯数字。比如，未知量“x、y、z”写成“天、地、人”，积分符号∫写成“禾”，微分符号d写成“彳”，加号写成“丄”，减号写成“丅”，等等。
Elements of Analytical Geometry,and of the Differential and Integral Calculus (《代微积拾级》) stands as the first Chinese translation of a Western calculus treatise. This seminal work was originally authored by the American mathematician Elias Loomis, and jointly translated into Chinese by the British missionary Alexander Wylie and the renowned Chinese mathematician Li Shanlan in 1859.
What's particularly unique about this book is that all mathematical symbols were expressed using Chinese characters, rather than the familiar Latin letters, Greek letters, and Arabic numerals we use today. For instance, the unknowns "x, y, z" were represented as "天 (heaven), 地 (earth), 人 (human)", the integral symbol ∫ was written as "禾", the differential symbol d as "彳", the plus sign as "丄", and the minus sign as "丅", among others.
