Geocache Description:

On May 24, 2025, we held the Payson Arizona Community Celebration Event.  The logbook was an ammocan, which everyone who attended signed.  This geocache is the logbook, hidden in a location just south of Payson.  It is filled with small containers so you can hide your own geocache!

It can only be access from southbound Highway 87, just before you start down the hill around corvair curve to Rye.  Park at the south end of the paved parking area, just south of the brake check area.  There is plenty of room to get way off the highway.  Do NOT park on the shoulder: it is both unsafe and will make your journey steep.  Follow the dirt road to the waypoint listed for the fence line: this is a gate to go through the fence.  Hike up the hill, and cross the old and broken fence: there should be areas where it is fallen down and easy to cross.

Once you get to the posted coordinates, look for a boulder (see spoiler picture).  It should be easy to find.

I wanted to make this one more of a park and grab, but the locations I considered were covered with trash, or had proximity issues to other geocaches.  Still it is a short and fairly easy (by OPJim standards) walk of 0.3 miles and 140 feet elevation.  Should be doable in 30 minutes or less, but wear proper shoes, watch for the usual pokey things and high desert critters, etc.  After you're done, there's even better views on the top of Oxbow Hill.  I didn't place it there because a previous cache, Amon Sul was muggled there.
