Geocache Description:

Deutsch Kloster der hl. Maria Magdalene in Porat
Nach amtlichen Schriftstücken besteht das Kloster in Porat über 500 Jahre. Vor 1480 lebten hier Mönche des dritten Franziskanerordens des hl. Franziskus. An der Stelle der ursprünglichen Kapelle wurde damals ein neues Kloster aufgebaut. Da wurde auch der Teil der heutigen Kirche (Spätgotik) gebaut und kurz danach wurde der neue Hauptaltar mit dem Polyptychon errichtet, ein Werk von venezianischen Meistern Girolamo und Francesco da Santacroce. An der Nordseite der Kirche befindet sich der Alter des hl. Nikolaus mit Statuen des hl. Franziskus und hl. Anton und an der Südseite ist der Alter des hl. Rochus. Im Jahre 1850 wurde wegen schnelleren und leichteren Olivenpressens eine große Olivenpresse (toš) im Kloster gebaut, die nicht nur vom Kloster sondern von ganzem Porat gebraucht wurde. Sie ist bis heute authentisch erhalten. Im Klosterkeller ist eine Museumssammlung mit einer authentischen Olivenpresse ausgestellt, die religiöse, kulturelle und wirtschaftliche Anwesenheit des dritten Franziskanerordens in Dubašnica und besonders in Porat darstellt. Im glagolitischem Lapidarium des Klosters befinden sich Kopien der ältesten und wichtigsten kroatischen glagolitischen Inschriften. In diesem Kloster haben Franziskaner des dritten Ordens jahrhundertelang gelesen, geschrieben, Messen gesungen, Gebete gesprochen und in glagolitischer Schrift geschrieben.
Im Attrium des Klosters und in der Kirche der Hl. Maria Magdalena werden zahlreiche kulturelle Veranstaltungen, sowie Konzerte klassischer und traditioneller Musik abgehalten.

Kroatisch :Samostan sv. Marije Magdalene u Portu
Prema pisanim dokumentima, samostan u Portu postoji više od 500 godina. Navodi se da su tu prije godine 1480. živjeli redovnici, samostanski trecoredci Sv. Franje. Tada je na mjestu prvotne male kapele sagraden novi samostan. Otprilike tada sagraden je i dio sadašnje crkve (kasna gotika), a nedugo potom podignut je novi glavni oltar i na njega postavljen veliki poliptih koji i danas tamo stoji, a djelo je venecijanskih majstora Girolama i Francesca da Santacroce. Na sjevernoj strani crkve oltar je Sv. Nikole s kipovima Sv. Franje i Sv. Antona, a na južnoj je strani oltar Sv. Roka. Godine 1850. u samostanu je izgraden veliki toš - mlin i tijesak za bržu i lakšu preradu maslina, kojim se koristio ne samo samostan vec i cijeli Porat, a sacuvan je u izvornu obliku do naših dana. U podrumu samostana ureden je samostanski muzej koji s tošom i izlošcima predocuje vjersku, kulturnu i gospodarsku prisutnost fratara trecoredaca u Dubašnici, poglavito u Portu. U glagoljskome lapidariju samostana nalaze se kopije najstarijih i najvažnijih hrvatskih glagoljskih natpisa. Tu su franjevci trecoredci kroza stoljeca citali i pisali, pjevali mise, kazivali oficije i pisali glagoljskim pismom.
U atriju samostana i u crkvi sv. Marije Magdalene održavaju se brojne kulturne manifestacije, koncerti klasicne i tradicionalne glazbe.

Englisch Monastery of St. Mary Magdalene in Porat
Monastery in Porat has existed more than 500 years according to some written documents. Monks and members of RC Third Order lived there before 1480. Then a monastery was built at the place where there was originally a small chapel. About that time a part of today’s church (built in the late Gothic style) was built and shortly after that the main altar where they put a polyptych which stands there even today and which was made by venetian great painters Girolamo and Francesco da Santacroce. On the north side of the church there is St. Nicholas altar with the statues of St. Francis and St. Anthony and on the south side St. Rocco’s altar. In 1850 a big toš was made which was basically a mill and a press used for better and easier processing of olives. The toš was used not only by monastery but by the whole Porat and has been preserved up to the present day. The cellar of the monastery has been changed to a monasterial museum with the toš and other exhibits which testify about religious, cultural and economic presence of monks and of RC Third Order in Dubašnica, especially in Porat. In the Glagolitic collection of stone monuments there are copies of some of the oldest and most important Croatian Glagolitic inscriptions. The franciscan members of RC Third Order has been reading, writing and singing masses over centuries, saying offices and using Glagolitic alphabet.
Numerous cultural events take place in the atrium of the monastery and inside the Church of St. Mary Magdalene as well as concerts of classical and traditional music.
