Something somewhere reminded me that my family used to have Christmas in June or July. Did anyone else do this?
When I was a kid, my mom worked in a hospital. And because our extended family lived so far away, she would work the Christmas holiday and then we would travel to have Christmas in June or July. I always thot we must look very strange with snowman and Santa Claus wrapped packages in the back window of the car, with the windows rolled down and sunburn a possibility. And I'd have to wear some pretty dress I hated (and was not allowed to get dirty), my dad had to wear a suit (and had to keep the suit coat on) and my mom would have some green jello salad on her lap, hoping it wouldn't turn to soup during the 4-5 hour drive. Once we arrived and the pictures were taken (and yes, the hosting family had a decorated tree), I'd run upstairs, ditch the dress for borrowed shorts and a t-shirt and I'd run outside. My poor dad suffered!
Now I'm not making this an ugly Christmas sweater requirement, but taking a photo with some Christmas or winter attire would be a fun photo op. Dig out the reindeer antlers, Christmas hats, stocking caps, mittens, a Grinch t-shirt...whatever is handy.
And Santa has already delivered presents to The Pasta Oven.
