Welcome to a new series I am calling "Filling in the Blanks", a (hopefully) growing series aimed at placing caches in areas of Kansas City that have long been overlooked by the geocaching map.
As geocachers, we often find ourselves returning to the same well trodden paths. This series is all about exploration and discovery by spotlighting neighborhoods, parks, and public spaces that deserve a little more love (and a few more smiley faces 😉).
This particular cache fills in a gap in the Quindaro area where it is miles from the nearest other cache.

Welcome to a little piece of Mauritius – right here in Kansas City!
This cache was placed by Girl Scout Troop 2061 as part of their participation in the annual World Thinking Day event, where girls from around the world come together to celebrate international friendship and global citizenship.
At the event, Troop 2061 spotlighted Mauritius, a small island nation in the Indian Ocean known for its turquoise lagoons, volcanic landscapes, and vibrant cultural diversity. As part of the celebration, they created a passport stamp representing Mauritius and now you can use it too!
🌴 Fun Facts About Mauritius:
Mauritius is located off the southeast coast of Africa and was once home to the now-extinct dodo bird (this inspired the stamp!)
🌋 The island was formed by volcanic activity and still features dramatic mountains and craters.
🌈 It’s known for the "Seven Colored Earths" a natural phenomenon where sand dunes in seven distinct colors swirl together.
🌺 The country has no official language—people speak a mix of English, French, and Mauritian Creole.
🍛 Mauritian cuisine is a flavorful fusion of Indian, African, Chinese, and French influences.
