AMA-LUR, madre tierra
Amalur (Ama Lur edo Ama Lurra ere idatzia) euskal mitologiako pertsonaia funtsezko eta sakratuenetako bat da. Ama Lurra irudikatzen du, existitzen den guztia sortzen duen lehen bizi-indarra. Bere izenak literalki "Ama Lurra" esan nahi du euskaraz.
Nor da Amalur? Izaki bizidun guztien ama da, bizitzaren iturria eta naturaren beraren gorpuztea. Ez da giza itxurako jainkosa bat, lurrean, mendietan, basoetan, ibaietan eta ziklo naturalean agertzen den jainkozko entitate bat baizik. Kultu edo tenplu antolaturik ez duen arren, naturarekiko errespetuan eta antzinako erritu batzuetan gurtzen da inplizituki.
Bere papera euskal mitologian: Amalur Mariren ama da, euskal panteoiaren jainkosa garrantzitsuena. Mitoaren bertsio batzuetan, Amalur beste izaki jainkotiar batzuen ama ere bada, hala nola Sugaar (trumoi eta suarekin lotutako suge gizonezkoa) edo espiritu elementalen ama. Ordena naturala, emankortasuna eta iraunkortasuna adierazten ditu, beste jainko dinamikoago edo suntsitzaileen aldean.
Amalur (también escrita Ama Lur o Ama Lurra) es una de las figuras más fundamentales y sagradas de la mitología vasca. Representa a la Madre Tierra, la fuerza vital primordial que da origen a todo lo que existe. Su nombre significa literalmente “Madre Tierra” en euskera.
¿Quién es Amalur? Es la madre de todos los seres vivos, la fuente de la vida y la encarnación de la naturaleza misma. No es una diosa con forma humana, sino una entidad divina que se manifiesta en la tierra, las montañas, los bosques, los ríos y el ciclo natural. Aunque no tiene un culto organizado ni templos, se la venera implícitamente en el respeto a la naturaleza y en ciertos rituales antiguos.
Su papel en la mitología vasca: Amalur es la madre de Mari, la diosa más importante del panteón vasco. En algunas versiones del mito, Amalur también es madre de otros seres divinos como Sugaar (serpiente masculina asociada al trueno y al fuego) o los espíritus elementales. Representa el orden natural, la fertilidad y la permanencia, en contraste con otras deidades más dinámicas o destructivas.

Who is Amalur? She is the mother of all living beings, the source of life, and the embodiment of nature itself. She is not a goddess in human form, but a divine entity manifested in the earth, mountains, forests, rivers, and the natural cycle. Although she has no organized cult or temples, she is implicitly venerated in respect for nature and in certain ancient rituals.
Her role in Basque mythology: Amalur is the mother of Mari, the most important goddess in the Basque pantheon.
