Sorginak, las sacerdotisas
Sorginak euskal mitologiako pertsonaia indartsu eta konplexuenetakoak dira. Naturari lotutako sendatzaile jakintsu gisa ikusten ziren, baita Inkisizioan jazarturiko sorginak ere. Bere figurak elementu paganoak, magikoak, femeninoak eta deabruak nahasten ditu.
Jatorriz, sorginak apaizak edo xamanak ziren, belarrak, ziklo naturalak eta gorputzaren eta arimaren sekretuak ezagutzen zituztenak. Kristautasuna iristearekin batera, bere praktika asko diabolikotzat hartu ziren. Uste zen gauez elkartzen zirela, batez ere kobazuloetan edo mendietan, akelarreak (topaketa magikoak) egiteko.
Sorgin = bizia ematen duena / erditzen duena / sortzailea. Horrek iradokitzen du beren jatorrian botere femeninoko figura gisa gurtu zirela, emankortasunarekin, osasunarekin, arbasoen ezagutzarekin eta Lurraren zikloekin lotuta.
Sorginak Mariren zerbitzari edo apaizak ziren, euskal mitologian lurraren jainkosa handia. Beraien kobazuloetara hegan egiten omen zuten, batez ere Anboto mendira, han gurtzen zuten. Batzuetan lamiak bezala agertzen ziren giza itxuran, edo eraldaketa ahalmenekin.
Las Sorginak (brujas en euskera) son unas de las figuras más poderosas y complejas de la mitología vasca. Fueron vistas tanto como sabias curanderas conectadas con la naturaleza, como también brujas perseguidas durante la Inquisición. Su figura mezcla elementos paganos, mágicos, femeninos y demonizados.
Originalmente, las sorginak eran sacerdotisas o chamanas, conocedoras de las hierbas, los ciclos naturales y los secretos del cuerpo y el alma. Con la llegada del cristianismo, muchas de sus prácticas fueron consideradas diabólicas. Se creía que se reunían por la noche, sobre todo en cuevas o montes, para realizar akelarres (reuniones mágicas).
Sorgin = la que da vida / la que hace nacer / la creadora. Esto sugiere que en sus orígenes eran veneradas como figuras de poder femenino, asociadas a la fertilidad, la salud, el conocimiento ancestral y los ciclos de la Tierra.
Las Sorginak eran servidoras o sacerdotisas de Mari, la gran diosa de la tierra en la mitología vasca. Se decía que volaban hasta sus cuevas, sobre todo la del monte Anboto, donde le rendían culto. A veces aparecían como lamias con forma humana, o con poderes de transformación.
The Sorginak (witches in Basque) are one of the most powerful and complex figures in Basque mythology. They were seen both as wise healers connected to nature and as witches persecuted during the Inquisition. Their imagery blends pagan, magical, feminine, and demonic elements.
Originally, the sorginak were priestesses or shamans, knowledgeable in herbs, natural cycles, and the secrets of the body and soul. With the arrival of Christianity, many of their practices were considered diabolical. It was believed that they gathered at night, especially in caves or mountains, to hold akelarres (magical gatherings).
Sorgin = the giver of life / the giver of birth / the creator. This suggests that they were originally venerated as figures of feminine power, associated with fertility, health, ancestral knowledge, and the cycles of the Earth.
The Sorginak were servants or priestesses of Mari, the great earth goddess in Basque mythology. They were said to fly to her caves, especially the one on Mount Anboto, where they worshipped her. They sometimes appeared as lamias in human form, or with powers of transformation.
