I discovered this trailhead many, many years ago. This trail has been my family's Fall hike ever since. We always park a car at both ends, and walk the 6 miles up & over the mountain. We time our hike to when all the Tamaracks/Western Larch are at their most beautiful eye-burning orange. There is a rock outcropping at the very top of the mountain, where we have lunch and enjoy the sea of orange and beautiful lake below us. This rock outcropping is on a little spur trail to the right. There is a geocache near our lunch spot now, which will help find the trail. I recommend hiking this trail in October, when the Tamaracks are orange. Dress warmly, though, because we HAVE been snowed on sometimes, lol.
There are no facilities here. It is just a primitive parking area.
