Spend a few minutes walking down a flat boardwalk to the beach through one of Floridas Ocean Hammocks! What's a Ocean Hammock? It's a hardwood forest with a freshwater ecosystem in a saltwater environment like sand dunes. In this hammock you can view endangered gopher tortoise in the dunes, red ear slider turtles in the water, small island deer at dusk, and marsh rabbits in the briar patches along the dunes ( morning and dusk). This is off one of St Augustine Beaches handicapped accessible beach walkways.
