Geocache Description:

This is the grave of Alice Flagg who died of a fever in 1849 at the age of 15. She was the daughter of a wealthy planter and was secretly engaged to a lumberman, a man of whom her parents disapproved. She secretly wore his ring around her neck on a ribbon until it was discovered by her brother and thrown out of her bedroom window into a salt marsh. It is said that she has been seen wandering the cemetery looking for her lost ring.

SHANNON VISITS ALICE

Legend says that if you walk backwards around her grave 13 times you will feel a tug on YOUR ring ! You may find some rings, flowers, or other interesting things that previous visitors have left on the gravesite so please leave something appropriate, and take something if you wish. In 2004 a clergyman at the church believed he saw the image of Alice floating outside the window of the chapel. The windows are high enough above ground so that whatever he saw could not have been a mortal standing on the ground below!
