Geocache Description:

30 Mile Point Lighthouse is at the Northern most Point of the Lake Ontario South Shore. It was built in 1875 and lit for the first time on April 27, 1876. It protected ships from the shallow sandbar that extended from 30 mile point. Prior to the construction of the lighthouse there were a number of historic shipwrecks. The US Lighthouse Service operated the light until July 1, 1939 when the USCG took over.

To log this cache, visit the lighthouse. Take a picture of yourself or someone from your team on the steps of the lighthouse. If you are visiting alone, then take a picture of your GPS along with something that identifies you at the blue information board.

If you don't have a camera with you, send us an e-mail with the information provided on 2 of the 8 signs on the lighthouse, property or other buildings on the grounds. The signs are labeled 1 through 8.

Hope you enjoy a walk along the lake and the scenery at the lighthouse.
