Geocache Description:

Welcome to Foster Park, one of Parksville's prettiest and most diverse parks. From playgrounds to verdant grassy areas, to heritage buildings, to wonderful trails that invite you to amble among native trees and plants, Foster Park has something for everyone.

Fastidiously maintained by the Friends of Foster Park in partnership with the City of Parksville, the park welcomes you, whether your goal is to enjoy "getting away from it all" for a few minutes, or a few hours. Unwind by exploring the trails, checking out the classic wooden gazebo (built in 1999), or bringing your kids to wear themselves out playing on the cool playground equipment. If you're more interested in a quieter pursuit, check out the nearby Little Free Library for some reading material and have a seat on one of the handy benches.

There are two ways for you to locate this Letterbox Hybrid geocache. Here is the first method in classic Letterbox fashion:

  • As you enter the park head for the windowless building. This is where you will find washrooms as well as an information board where announcements are posted about upcoming events in Foster Park. There is also contact info in case you'd like to volunteer to assist the Friends of Foster Park.
  • Head south to check out the playground area. It features classic equipment like swings but also has some newer things for climbing.
  • Keep heading south toward the pathway that leads out of the park. Here you will find a Little Free Library kiosk where you can peruse the selection of reading material, and either drop off something you have read or pick up something you'd like to read.
  • Now turn your attention to the northeast (off to your right as you stand with your back to the kiosk) and gaze across the large grassy expanse. About 60 yards away you will see the wooden gazebo standing like a magnificent guardian over the field.
  • As you head toward the gazebo take some time to check out the finely-crafted details and recognize the craftsmanship and dedication that went into its construction. As you approach the modernized steps that lead up into the gazebo please remember this structure has been here for 26 years so tread carefully!
  • Or better yet, this might be a good opportunity for you to begin your search for the geocache container. I find the best way for me to find a geocache in a situation like this is to think about where I might hide it, don't you? Container is a camo-painted brown 300ml L&L w/log book, pencil, stamper, and assorted swag. Please trade fairly!

The other way to grab the cache is to read the last half of the hint.
