From Columbus’s thriving Coffee Trail to cozy cafés in Cleveland and Cincinnati, the Buckeye State boasts a proud and growing coffee culture. Add in Cleveland’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and you’ve got the perfect blend of music, culture, and caffeine.
This cache is hidden in an Ohio Buckeye tree, a nod to both the state tree and the affectionate nickname for Ohioans everywhere. While the tree’s nuts are toxic (never eat them!), Ohio has crafted its own edible tradition: Buckeye candy, chocolate-covered peanut butter balls that look like the nut but are sweet and safe. There’s even Buckeye coffee, where peanut butter and chocolate flavors swirl into your latte.
Fun fact: At the 2018 Ohio State Fair, a record-setting Buckeye candy was created—tipping the scales at a whopping 339 pounds—the largest ever made!
