Baška

Baška ist mit 1673 Einwohnern (Volkszählung 2021) die zweitgrößte Gemeinde auf der Insel Krk in der Kvarner-Bucht. Der Ort liegt am südlichen Ende des Baška-Tals an der Mündung des Flusses Vela Rika, der am Hlam-Berg entspringt. Die Entfernung zum Festland (Krk-Brücke) beträgt rund 50 km. In der Vergangenheit diente der Hafen von Baška auch als Fährhafen (Fährverbindungen nach Lopar (Insel Rab) und nach Senj wurden angeboten – seit einigen Jahren ist dies aber nicht mehr der Fall). Haupteinnahmequelle ist der Tourismus. Schon 1906 wurde das erste Hotel gebaut, zwei Jahre später der erste Badestrand angelegt. Baška verfügt über mehr als dreißig Kieselstrände. Der größte davon ist „Vela plaža“, ein 1800 m langer natürlicher Kieselstrand.

Grad se nalazi na južnom kraju Bašcanske doline na ušcu rijeke Vela Rike, koja izvire na planini Hlam. Udaljenost do kopna (Krcki most) je oko 50 km. U prošlosti je luka Baška služila i kao trajektna luka (nudile su se trajektne veze s Loparom (otok Rab) i Senjem - ali to vec nekoliko godina nije slucaj). Glavni izvor prihoda je turizam. Prvi hotel izgraden je 1906. godine, a prva plaža nastala je dvije godine kasnije. Baška ima više od trideset šljuncanih plaža. Najveca od njih je "Vela plaža", prirodna šljuncana plaža duga 1800 m.

With 1,673 inhabitants (2021 census), Baška is the second largest municipality on the island of Krk in the Kvarner Bay. The town lies at the southern end of the Baška Valley at the mouth of the Vela Rika River, which originates on Hlam Mountain. It is approximately 50 km from the mainland (Krk Bridge). In the past, the port of Baška also served as a ferry port (ferry connections to Lopar (Rab Island) and Senj were offered, but this has not been the case for several years). The main source of income is tourism. The first hotel was built in 1906, and the first beach was created two years later. Baška has more than thirty pebble beaches. The largest of these is "Vela plaža," an 1,800 m long natural pebble beach.
