Geocache Description:

The Route:

This loop is an extension to my original 'Paplands Farm Loop' which i placed in 2020. I though it was finally time to expand the route. The walk is about 6-7 km and will take you roughly 2-3 hours to complete. All caches in the extension are micro, some hanging, come magnetic and others are film canister pots. It also has one multi-cache on the way to change things up a bit. There is a stretch of road in the middle of the walk which is about half a kilometre, it is not a very busy road, but be careful for some cars who carelessly bomb it round there.

Rowner Water Mill:

You will go past the disused Rowner Mill Pond towards the end of the walk. This particular mill was mentioned in the Domesday Book which would have had two mills producing an income of 11 shillings. By 1724, records show that the owner was William Carter and was succeeded by Hammond & Son until closure. Both mills were eventually demolished by 1966 to prevent flooding in the river and canal. The older mill's wheelpit is still visible on site. Rowner farm, which is south of the mill site, on higher ground, has an unusually constructed gazebo in its garden.

This mill is full of history and one of the most interesting in Sussex, to find out more the website is https://www.sussexmillsgroup.org.uk/water2.htm#Rowner.

Additional Information:

- Ideally bring tweazers, as a couple of the caches are fairly small

- History of this part of the Wey and Arun Canal is in the regular 'Paplands Farm Loop'

- If there is anything wrong with any of the caches please let me know so that I can sort it out as soon as possible

- Please replace the caches exactly how you found them

Enjoy!
