The Batmobile is Batman's preferred vehicle created by Bill Finger. It first appeared in Detective Comics #27 (May 1939).
When the Batmobile first appeared it was red. As new iterations of the Batmobile appeared it was eventually black. The Batmobile has had many gadgets and special features throughout it's lifetime including smoke and oil dispensers, missiles, jet engine, crime lab, ejection seat, and armor plating.
