La madrugada del fin de semana del 9 al 10 de Noviembre de 2002 será recordada durante mucho tiempo por empleadas de la limpieza del Tanatorio de Ceuta y miembros de las fuerzas del orden público al escucharse en el interior del edificio una serie de ruidos que sembraron el miedo entre los referidos testigos. A priori no hay muchas razones, aparte de las energías emocionales que pueda albergar un tanatorio, para éstos fenómenos, ya que es un edificio bastante moderno. Pero vayamos a los hechos.
Entre las 3´00 h. y las 5´30 h. de la madrugada dos limpiadoras escucharon claramente lloros, quejas, sollozos y golpes en el interior del Tanatorio que se hallaba en esos momentos, aparentemente, vacío. Ante la insistencia de estos ruidos las asustadas limpiadoras avisaron a la Policía Local de Ceuta que presta de dispuso a encontrar a los responsables de dicho alboroto o “broma de mal gusto”.
Encarna y Gema, conserjes del Tanatorio de Ceuta, oyeron de repente, unos llantos, parecido a un quejido, que parecía provenir del más allá. Lo curioso es que, además, esa noche no había ningún difunto en ese Velatorio. La primera reacción de las protagonistas, fue salir rápidamente a la calle creyendo que algo había pasado a alguna mujer. No había nadie. Hicieron un registro exterior y volvieron al recinto. Los lamentos venían del interior, de la zona de las escaleras que hay junto a su cuartillo, todo próximo a la puerta principal de la moderna construcción de apenas cinco años por aquel entonces. En sus más de dos años de servicio allí nunca les había sucedido nada igual. Los ruidos de repente cesaron, pero la tranquilidad no les iba a durar mucho. Unas horas más tarde los ruidos y lamentos volvieron a ser audibles, y las vigilantes decidieron llamar a la policía. Llegaron 8 policías, que pudieron comprobar la historia que contaban Encarna y Gema, y 2 de ellos, tan aterrados, se negaron a entrar en las dependencias del tanatorio. Nada más entrar pudieron escuchar los ruidos. Después de estar los ocho quietos en la sala principal intentando determinar la procedencia del sonido sin resultado positivo, algunos agentes subieron a la parte superior del Tanatorio, desde donde aparentaba surgir el inquietante sonido. Sin embargo mientras los testigos de la planta inferior seguían oyendo ruidos lastimeros y raps, los agentes en el piso de arriba dejaron de escucharlos para luego oírlos provenir de abajo, ¿qué tipo de sonido era capaz de tal efecto? Viendo que no avanzaban ni descubrían lo que estaba sucediendo en el tanatorio, se marcharon a la comisaría a rellenar el parte oficial de la salida. Las funcionarias quedaron en compañía del vigilante de la DUCAR que no quería ni dejarlas solas ni quedarse solo él. Como el lamento y los golpes no cesaron llamaron de nuevo a los policías. Estos volvieron a personarse por segunda vez en la calle San Amaro, pero a su llegada los ruidos cesaron, y aquellos hechos fueron reflejados en un acta policial, quizá siendo uno de los grandes expedientes X de los últimos años en España.
Durante un tiempo no se volvieron a escuchar más voces, pero un día, mientras las conserjes leían, se volvieron a escuchar voces; aquellas aterrados - 4 - bedeles empezaron a recorrer todas las dependencias del Tanatorio de Ceuta. Pero no encontraron nada. El equipo del programa de investigación “Cuarto Milenio” acudió a ese lugar, y aunque no descubrió nada extraño, sí consiguieron los testimonios de otras personas que habían acudido al tanatorio, como familiares de los fallecidos que decían que estando solos en una sala del tanatorio, notaban como alguien les agarraban del pelo, u oían a alguien llamándolos por su nombre….

The early hours of the weekend of November 9-10, 2002, will long be remembered by the cleaning staff of the Ceuta Funeral Home and members of law enforcement when a series of noises were heard inside the building, sowing fear among the aforementioned witnesses. A priori, there aren't many reasons for these phenomena, other than the emotional energies that a funeral home can hold, as it is a fairly modern building. But let's get to the facts.
Between 3:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., two cleaners clearly heard crying, moans, sobs, and banging inside the funeral home, which was apparently empty at the time. When these noises continued, the frightened cleaners notified the Ceuta Local Police, who set about finding those responsible for the commotion or "bad joke."
Encarna and Gema, caretakers at the Ceuta Funeral Home, suddenly heard wailing, similar to moans, that seemed to come from beyond the grave. The curious thing is that, that night, there was no one dead at the funeral home. The protagonists' first reaction was to quickly go out into the street, believing that something had happened to a woman. There was no one there. They searched the outside and returned to the building. The wails were coming from inside, from the stairwell next to their small room, close to the main door of the modern building, barely five years old at the time. In their more than two years of service there, nothing like this had ever happened to them. The noises suddenly stopped, but the peace was not to last long.
A few hours later, the noises and wailing became audible again, and the security guards decided to call the police. Eight police officers arrived and were able to verify Encarna and Gema's story. Two of them, so terrified, refused to enter the funeral home. As soon as they entered, they could hear the noises. After the eight of them remained motionless in the main room trying to determine the source of the sound without success, some officers went upstairs to the funeral home, from where the disturbing sound seemed to be coming. However, while witnesses on the lower floor continued to hear wailing and rapping noises, the officers on the upper floor stopped hearing them and then heard them coming from below.What kind of sound was capable of such an effect? Seeing that they weren't making any progress or discovering what was happening at the funeral home, they went to the police station to fill out the official report of the exit. The officers were accompanied by the DUCAR guard, who didn't want to leave them alone or be left alone. When the wailing and banging didn't stop, they called the police again. They returned to San Amaro Street for the second time, but upon their arrival, the noises ceased, and those events were recorded in a police report, perhaps one of the biggest X-Files of recent years in Spain.
For a while, no more voices were heard, but one day, while the caretakers were reading, voices were heard again; those terrified caretakers began searching all the rooms of the Ceuta Funeral Home. But they found nothing. The team from the "Cuarto Milenio" research program went to the place, and although they didn't discover anything strange, they did obtain testimonies from other people who had been to the funeral home, such as relatives of the deceased who said that when they were alone in a room of the funeral home, they felt someone grab their hair, or heard someone calling their name...
