Ghost Bikes are small and somber memorials for bicyclists who are killed or hit on the street (usually by a motor vehicle). Apart from being a memorial, it is usually intended as a reminder to passing motorists to share the road. A bicycle is painted all white and located near the crash site and locked to a suitable object close to the scene of the accident, accompanied by a small plaque. They serve as reminders of the tragedy that took place on a street, and as quiet statements in support of cyclists' right to safe travel.
