Caches is this series will be regular size food storage containers, but this one is smaller! and the hides are not supposed to be tricky. See the hint if you want... We are encouraging new cachers to start caching and experienced cachers to learn more about and visit the Erie Canal in Wayne County. Message the cache owner for help if needed.
Anyone who logs this find, or another one in this series, by August 15th will be eligible for a grand prize relating to the Erie Canal. Other smaller prizes are also being talked about being given the week of the Wayne County Fair, August 4th - 10th, 2025.
The cache containers are plastic Rubbermaid food storage containers with a red lid. Pictures of a canal map and the logo for the celebration can be seen through the sides of the container.
Some information about what the Port of Newark is all about:
The Port of Newark includes canalfront with 1,200 feet of floating docks, T. Spencer Knight Park, and a Welcome Center run by the Greater Newark Chamber of Commerce. The Canalway Trail runs through the park, bringing cyclists, runners, and walkers to the village and waterfront. The active port has attracted new businesses as well, including Erie Shore Landing-- a former industrial building just steps from the park that now offers a gift shop, café, ice cream parlor, and print shop run by The Arc Wayne. Newark's downtown district is an easy walk from the port; new streetscape and landscape improvements make it safer and for pedestrians to enjoy the park and access the Village.
