This cache is located in the southern section of the Walpole Town Forest. It is a short distance from the parking lot on South Street. You have to do some bushwacking, although it is within 250 feet of the trail. It is close to the Bay Circuit, and two ponds.
The cache is a green ammo box, and it is within a quarter mile of the parking lot as the crow flies. The cache gets its name from its location, the halfway point betweenBoston and Providence, and halfway between several landmarks as well (ie. Rte. 24 and the Mass Pike, both Boston beltways, etc.) When we placed the cache, it contained the Road Trip Travel Bug, a camera and log book, several cars, and other items. The south part of the town forest is virtually unknown, even most Walpole residents! Keep a lookout for wildlife here, such as deer and coyote, especially at twilight. Park on South Street, which crosses Washington and Pine Streets. Note that this section of Town Forest land is on the opposite side of Washington St from the Walpole Woods cache. If you want to follow the Bay Circut Trail in, park at the Walpole DPW and cross Washington St.
