Geocache Description:

Washingtonville Walk

Welcome to the neighborhood of Washingtonville, located in the Village of Mamaroneck.  It has the nickname “The Flats” due to its flat topography and being surrounded by higher elevations (relatively speaking).  It is also known for its ability to flood almost every time a large storm passes by.   There is a small industrial section off Fenimore Road and a small residential area where the initial coordinates will situate you between its two parks, one named for a former village manager and the other for a local youth activities organizer.  There is no parking directly at the coordinates, but any of the side streets should provide a space for you long enough to find the cache.

Simply find the number associated with its clue and plug it in to the coordinates and there you go.  The cache is pretty tiny but I did manage to fit in a Bicentennial Quarter for the FTF.

North: AB CD.EFG (Checksum 27)

West: HIJ KL.MNO (Checksum 39)

A: The total number of seats at the chess/checkers tables at one of the nearby parks.

B: The number of dogs allowed at one time in one of the parks plus the number of dogs allowed at one time in the other park divided by 2.

C: The number of letters in the street name where a house on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) is, as identified by a sign from the Mamaroneck Historical Society (MHS) placed in front of it. (This house is private property, so please do not enter its grounds, all information necessary is easily gleaned from the road or across the street.)

D: The number of letters in the street name of the earlier president minus the number of the alphanumeric position of the first letter of the first street east past the street of the later president.

EF: The 1st and 4th digits of the date on the MHS sign in front of the NRHP house.

G: The sum of the yellow backed numbers on the pole near the tri-trunked-tree in one of the parks.

H: The first digit in the time either park closes multiplied by the second digit.

I: The number of letters in the name of the Avenue that continues over a bridge but only the bridge that also allows vehicles that have the same number of tires as there were seats in the first digit you got can go over.

J:  The number of letters in the nickname of one of the men honored with a park.

KL: Twice the number of letters in the entire name of the other park if the nickname of the man in the previous park was inserted into the name of this park as this man’s nickname.

M: The number of letters in the possessive on the MHS sign of the NRHP house.

N: The number of letters in the name of the river that is flowing nearby.  Don’t know it already?  It’s on a plaque on a bridge near the end of one of the parks.  Look both ways!

O: The number of letters in the adjective on the MHS sign of the NRHP house.
