Geocache Description:

Doty springs is an outlet for the Madison Aquifer. The spring water comes out of the side of a rock cliff along Box Elder Creek. There will be 2 creek crossings to arrive at GZ. This hike is about 8 miles NW of Rapid City, SD just off of Nemo Road.

Park along Nemo Road at the green Forest Service gate located at n 44* 07.918' & W 103* 24.091'. Follow the trail down to Box Elder Creek in the canyon floor. You must cross Box Elder Creek twice . Sometimes it is running strong. Other times it may be a trickle or even dried up. (Not a good choice for small children.) Continue to follow the trail down the canyon and you will find Doty Springs at 44* 07.586 & W 103* 23.714' (This is where the water comes out of the side of the rock cliff). The cache is a medium sized lock n lock container. Practice stealth if hikers etc. are on scene. Replace as you found it See the photo for a good seat.
