Gleaners Union turns 100 years old this year (2025).

The Gleaners Union Club had a small beginning, and probably at the time it did not seem important. But in the years that followed, the Club affected the lives of hundreds of people.
The Club began back in February, 1925, when ladies of the community met at the home of one of the ranches. A County Agent had urged such an organization to take advantage of the benefits that the State Extension had to offer.
The newly organized group had to have a name and several suggestions were made. One woman had been attracted by the painting. “The Gleaners.”

The name Gleaners Union was proposed and the group agreed to adopt the name.
In 1926, 4-H clubs were organized. The Gleaners Union has sponsored 4-H clubs since then, and 4-H members have won many awards. They have also donated to the Fire Department.
The hall in front of you is used for monthly dances and dinners.
(Though not during the hottest summer months, because there is no air conditioning.)
I gave this a terrain rating of 2.0 because of a little slope right before the posted coordinates. Walk a few steps around to the side, for a lesser slope and beware of the barbed-wire studded corner post brace.
