Geysir is derived from the Icelandic verb að gjósa, which means something like spouting or bubbling. The Geysir is now a somewhat spherical, round plate with a diameter of about 14 meters, with a hole filled with hot water in the middle, about 3 meters wide and 23 meters deep. After that, the tunnel makes a bend in the depth and the further underground watercourse is unknown.
The Geysir is located in a geothermal very active area in the Haukadalur, a valley in the southwest of Iceland not far from the Gullfoss waterfall. A few meters from the Geysir is another geyser, the Strokkur or churn. In the immediate vicinity of both of these geysers are several hot water springs, some of which have blue colored water caused by silicates. A number of these hot water springs used to have geyser activity.

Iceland is known for its geysers, among other things. That is a reason to put a cache there.
The old Geysir is dormant, the Strokkur on the other hand still spouts every 5 to 10 minutes, an impressive sight.
In the parking lot of the Geysir Center something else is ‘sleeping’, an old Viking.
I have hidden a cache there.
