This section of trail is also part of the Ice Age Trail. The Badger State Trail travels 40 miles between Madison and the Wisconsin-Illinois border while traversing farmlands, woods, rolling hills, scenic meadows, remnant prairies, ravines, glacial topography and several small communities. The Badger State Trail also connects to many local parks and the Capital City and Sugar River state trails.
Hikers do not need a trail pass. Bicyclists and inline skaters 16 years or older are required to have a State trail pass in order to use the trail. Trail passes are available at https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/parks/admission/trailpass.
