Ştiaţi că: Credințele populare oferă Dealului Orlea o aură de mister. Ar fi fost locul unei mari cetăți dacice, dar și al comorilor lui Decebal. O legendă locală stranie vorbește despre „cămările” subterane pline cu aur și argint, ce ies la iveală aici, de Paște.
„Acest pisc se numește Orlea, din care cauză unii pretind că acest turn l-ar fi ridicat Orole, regele Dacilor, care a trăit pe la 180 înainte de Christos. Tocmai sub acestu pisc, se împreună cele trei râuri ce spală Valea Hațegului și fac apoi propriul Sargentu (n.r. Strei). Poporul fantazează că în interiorul acestui pisc sunt niște celarie (n.r. cămări) gigantice pline de aur și argint, că porțile prin care poţi intra în aceste catacombe sunt în apă și se deschid numai în ziua de Paști, când bate întâiul în toacă, și că atunci apa se ferește din calea lor. Se poate, ca aceasta se stea în legătură și să fie o corupțiune din tradițiunea istorică despre ascunderea tezaurelor lui Decebal, pentru că și acesta se presupune ca s-a întâmplat tot aici, în albia Apei Mari (n.r. Râul Mare)”, arăta istoricul Aron Densușianu, în revista Familia, din 1866.
Legendele comorilor de la Orlea au circulat sub diferite variante și au atras numeroși oameni de știință. Iulian Marțian (1867 - 1937), unul dintre savanții începutului de secol XX, s-a numărat printre cei care au cercetat acest ținut și au scris pe larg despre ele.

Did you know that: Popular beliefs give Orlea Hill an aura of mystery. It was said to be the site of a great Dacian fortress, but also of the treasures of Decebalus. A strange local legend speaks of underground "pantries" full of gold and silver, which come to light here at Easter.

The people fantasize that inside this peak there are gigantic cellars (ed. pantries) full of gold and silver, that the gates through which you can enter these catacombs are in the water and open only on Easter day, when the first bell rings, and that then the water stays out of their way. The legends of the treasures of Orlea circulated in different versions and attracted numerous scientists. Iulian Marțian (1867 - 1937), one of the scholars of the early 20th century, was among those who researched this land and wrote extensively about them.
