The cache is located along the hiking/snowshoe trail that follows the base of the Basalt Bluffs at Stake Lake. This spectactular formation is worth visiting. The trail here is very irregular and good footwear is recommended. BYOP
Although not very winter-friendly, to access this cache in the winter you will have to do it on snowshoes. During the ski season there is a $10 fee to snowshoe unless you are a member of the ski club and have unlimited access. There is absolutely no walking on the trails during ski season. Once the snow is gone, hiking and cycling are your options and there is no fee for these activities. Dogs are allowed in the off-season.
