Fun fact - Ben Franklin isn't from Philadelphia originally, he was from Boston. He was apprenticed to his brother in the printing trade, who was a pretty big jerk to him. So Franklin ran away at the age of 17 to New York.
Except that didn't go well, as there were no printing jobs in New York City, so he, now almost broke, caught a ferry to New Jersey. It blew the wrong way for a while and then Franklin saved a man's life who fell overboard by pulling him onboard by his hair. But eventually, he made it! Now very close to destitute, he walked all the way to Trenton, only to find he'd just missed the boat and the next wouldn't be there for days, his pitiable condition sparked the, well, pity of a widow, who fed him and offered him a place to sleep. Turned out he didn't need it. We'll let Franklin pick up from here...
"However, walking in the evening by the side of the river, a boat came by, which I found was going towards Philadelphia, with several people in her. They took me in, and, as there was no wind, we row'd all the way; and about midnight, not having yet seen the city, some of the company were confident we must have passed it, and would row no farther; the others knew not where we were; so we put toward the shore, got into a creek, landed near an old fence, with the rails of which we made a fire, the night being cold, in October, and there we remained till daylight. Then one of the company knew the place to be Cooper's Creek, a little above Philadelphia, which we saw as soon as we got out of the creek, and arrived there about eight or nine o'clock on the Sunday morning, and landed at the Market-street wharf."
So there you have it, Franklin slept near this spot and helped in stealing and burning the rails of a fence to keep warm! George Washington never stole and burned South Jersey fence rails. That we know of.
