Geocache Description:

The Cache Odyssey & Geotour

Welcome to the Wisconsin edition of the Cache Odyssey series, a series of 50 caches, one in each of the 50 states.  This is a short 2 stage letterbox hybrid geocache.

The geocache is not at the posted coordinates.  The coordinates lead you to great views of the Riverwalk along the Milwaukee River. Once you find the final cache, please DO NOT take the stamp or log book from the cache.  Helpful hint: It is easier to tilt this cache on its side than to lift the cache.

Let's begin!

1. From parking, walk east to the starting coordinates at N 43° 03.277 W 087° 54.284.  You’re now on the Riverwalk of the Milwaukee River!  There is plenty to see along the riverwalk, which stretches about 3 miles, winding through the heart of the city, connecting the Historic Third Ward and Downtown to the south, and the Beerline Trail to the north. It’s open 24/7, fully ADA accessible, and packed with public art, restaurants, and brewpubs.

And speaking of brewpubs and art, you can see some of that art from right where you’re standing.  Look up and to the southwest at you’ll see dozens of barrels mounted two stories up – they even light up at night in numerous colors.  Milwaukee is known for its beer, and the brewery here is an iconic, lively Milwaukee institution known for its award-winning craft beers, humorous tours, and riverside beer hall serving up fish fries and cheese curds in a historic setting.  Can it get any more Wisconsin than that?

2. Looking both north and south along the riverwalk you’ll see patios in both directions, with a boat dock that leads to the water below.  Head south/southwest only about 130 feet along the riverwalk and you will come to a mural on the wall, which is painted orange, yellow, and blue.  You’re almost there! Look to your right (west) about 10 feet and you’ll see a large object with the word “geocache” on it.  You’re done!  The contents are easier to get to if you tip the container on its side, but it can also be lifted if desired.  Please leave the stamp in the cache for letterboxers, and if taking swag don't forget to trade! smiley

We hope you enjoy your walk along the Riverwalk!
