Geocache Description:

Lechauweki Springs opened as a Victorian era health resort in 1873.

Lechauweki Springs in full splendor in 1881

Lechauweki is the Lenape word for the Lehigh River which is nearby. It was once a first class resort for summer boarders and tourists with most coming from NY, NJ and Philadelphia.

The hotel boomed for around a decade but business started to decline rapidly. One building was partially destroyed in a fire in 1891 and closed for good.

This park was reopened in the early 1990s. All that remains visible of the original structure are some portions of the foundation and a cold cellar. The main feature now is a walled pond with a gazebo which was built for the reopening of the park.

Escape from the hustle and bustle of Bethlehem and visit this hidden oasis!

The park is open from dawn to dusk and on street parking is available. Great for dogs and kids too!

The hide is a little tricky but please be mindful and respectful of the area.

Placed in honor of our 5th anniversary of geocaching!
