A Torre do Capitão - Núcleo Histórico e Museológico de Santo Amaro afirma-se como um espaço de visita e interpretação do mais antigo vestígio de arquitetura civil existente na Madeira, constituído por um grupo de imóveis, representativos dos séculos XV a XVIII, denominados por Torre do Capitão, Capela de Santo Amaro e Casa do Romeiros. A Capela, após a sua quase completa destruição, apresenta agora uma nova leitura, mantendo a sua primordial. O novo Edifício, construído a norte, comtempla, para além de uma área técnica, um espaço para exposições temporárias.
THE CAPTAIN TOWER
(Historical and Museum Center of Santo Amaro)
The Captain Tower - Historical and Museological Centre of Santo Amaro stands as a space for visiting and interpreting the oldest surviving civil architecture in Madeira. It consists of a group of buildings from the 15th to the 18th centuries, known as the Torre do Capitão, the Chapel of Santo Amaro, and the House of the Pilgrims. After nearly being completely destroyed, the Chapel now presents a new interpretation while preserving its original essence. The new building, constructed to the north, includes not only a technical area but also a space for temporary exhibitions.
