As you near close to this cache GZ, either by coming down the track behind the camp ground, or exit the bush walk and out into the open, you'll cross a small culvert. Retired Ashhurst Domain caretaker (and my stepdad
) Ken Pratt put this in around the mid '80s after the little old wooden bridge kept threatening to throw a board out under the weight of his tractor every time he crossed it. And during winter the water always came up through the boards anyway. Time to level up, and so a sturdy little culvert was put in.
These days you'd hardly know you were walking over it. Nearby (WP1) there is a Redwood tree bearing a high up chainsaw mark showing the height of the water in the February 2004 floods that washed out the nearby old Saddle Road bridge.
Further up toward the campsite close to the big wetlands information sign, is the Domain's only black Maire tree, also planted by Ken.

Cache is about 5m off the track. Coordinates are +/- 5m due to the tree cover. Be careful of old barbed wire fencing in the area.
Bring your own pen, re-zip the plastic bag completely for future weatherproofing, and rehide carefully using a bit of natural camo to help.
Enjoy your visit to the beautiful Ashhurst Domain
