Kings Park, New York, was a large state-operated mental institution that operated from 1885 to 1996. It was one of Long Island's four main mental institutions and treated thousands of patients over its 111-year history. Today, the grounds are part of Nissequogue River State Park, though many of the original buildings remain abandoned and decaying.
