This cache is part of my “River Nile” series. If you want THAT to make sense, you need to read the description for “Sauce of the Nile” (GCB2PFQ).
There will be a Bonus Cache associated with this series. The information needed to locate the cache can be found on the logs of selected caches on the Oran Park side of Camden Valley Way. This section of the series is still being completed.
The Blue Nile Falls is a waterfall in Ethiopia, approximately 30 km downstream of Lake Tana, which is generally considered to be the origin of that river. The lake itself is fed by numerous rivulets and streams. These trickle water into the Lake for most of the year, but in the Wet Season, the trickle becomes a torrent, significantly raising the Blue Nile’s contribution to the Nile’s overall flow downriver. If you’re reading this, good on you. Ground Level. At this time of year, the Blue Nile Falls are a spectacular sight, stretching approximately 400 mtrs wide and considered to be one of the country’s best-known tourist attractions.
In the Dry, it is possible to walk behind the curtain of falling water, and even to swim in the pool at the bottom.*
NO SWAPS NOW (different cache placed 4th Aug 2026)
In the time since placement, there has been a bit of foot traffic around the area. WP remains the most unobtrusive parking spot, but a more-or-less direct approach to GZ is now possible. NOTE THOUGH that the direct route has at least one "pothole" hidden by grass. Step with care.
The original cache was replaced by a different type on 4th Aug 2026. PAF's to people whose find predates this will not be of much help.
