Maurice Hilleman (1919-2005) was a microbiologist who specialized in vaccines. He developed over 40 vaccines. Some estimates have said that his vaccines save nearly 8 million lives each year. He developed vaccines for Polio, Mumps, and Hepatitis B, among others. Maurice Ralph Hilleman was born on August 30, 1919 in Miles City, Montana. A mural has been installed on the east side of the Miles City Public Library of Maurice and this park is named after him.
