At this spot you will see both the Pere Marquette 1223 and the Coal Tipple.
The Coal Tipple is 100 years old this year. We ran into someone after hiding the cache that is helping to preserve it and he said they are celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the coal tipple. The only other building related to the railroad that is also 100 years old is the depot that now houses Sweet Temptations. You can grab a brochure to learn more about the coal tipple and check out the signs to learn more about the train and coal tipple.
Fun fact, the 1223 is a sister train to the polar express (Pere Marquette 1225) that resides in Owosso, Michigan.
Thankful that there are people in Grand Haven that want to preserve its history.
There's a farmers market nearby that is open in the summer on Wednesdays and Saturdays. For the little ones, there's a playground on the other side of the train.
Do not go into the fenced off area of the coal tipple or the train.
