Gungal Rest Area is a great stop on the Golden Highway between Denman and Merriwa. It's formal name is Private Jackson Park. A plaque tells the story of Private John William Alexander Jackson VC, who at age 18 became the youngest Australian to win the VC, on the Western Front in 1916.
