A Paddle and A Walnut on the Humber
I have been eyeing up the Humber River for some time now, close to 4 years actually. I always wondered what this River was like to paddle. Well, today I finally got to give it a try, with Craigger99 and Boekmeisje. No Milli today, the weather was just too hot!
Today I learned, a few things about the Humber River:
1) The Public Boat Launch at Kingsmill Park is top notch, and is suitable for all types of boats, including Kayaks and Canoe - But parking is limited (get there early).
2) Large boats, Yachts and SeaDoos also use the Humber River, but must not exceed 10 kms/hr.
3) There are a few shallow ponds that you can paddle right into to see local wildlife.
4) Local Wildlife includes ducks, geese, turtles, muskrats, swans, herons, egret and deer. We spotted 3 deer and 2 fawns during our paddle.
5) On the weekend, there are a lot of canoes, kayaks and motor boats on the river. Don't worry, you won't be lonely.
6) The Humber River is a very special place, well worth the visit, I can assure you.
Happy Paddling!
