This cache is named after the film “Patton” which came out in 1970 and it is a true classic war movie. It stars George C. Scott as General George S. Patton and is probably his most famous role. Karl Malden is also in it as General Omar Bradley. The film won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. Scott also won the Best Actor for his performance, though he declined the award.
This cache is being placed in association with the NoVA Chapter of the Military Association of GeoCachers (MAGC) event held nearby each month. If you haven't found the others in the series, they are all fairly close by, so I hope you have time to check them out.
I've always been a history 'nut'. In fact, I taught U.S. History for eleven years. Many military leaders pick up nicknames during their careers. Some they liked, and some they did not. Some nicknames become well known, and others remain in obscurity.
How many of these nicknames do you recognize? Take this test and find out! To get the Final Coordinates, you will have to correctly answer all the following questions about famous U.S. military leaders and their nicknames. Give it a try, but if you get stumped use this link: List of military figures by nickname - Wikipedia
