This is the first in what I hope will be a series of caches that can be found at the top of mountains in the region. Wolfs Ridge is to the north of Kootenay Pass and Stagleap Provincial Park. It's about 5.8 km from the parking area at the side of Hwy 3. The first half of this features walking on a service road that parallels power lines and a gas line. At about 3.0 km, the gas line heads straight up to a saddle - follow this to the ridge. Alternatively, you could ride a mountain bike to this waypoint and then start your hike.Β
The cache is stowed at the summit of Wolfs Ridge at about 2,185 metres. As this is actually higher than the elevation at the summit of Wolf Peak, I considered this to be the real summit. You're looking for a 10 cm x 10 cm lock'n'lock plastic container hidden in a pile of rocks at the highest point. Build in time to enjoy the incredible views!
The hike is moderate to challenging. There is really no trail once you exit the service road, but the route up is easy to follow (although don't do this hike in low visibility). Enjoy!
The photos shows you the original contents! There's a bit of currency here, but it has no value.
