Yes, it's yet another CJ-Curry WWFM event, scheduled for 5:00am. Yes, Wellington, I said 5:00am.
The World Wide Flash Mob 2025 is here, and this crazy event has shifted northwards with me. If you don't know about WWFM: this is a yearly event organised by the Podcacher podcast with the help of geocachers worldwide. I ran them for ten years straight in Dunedin, with quite a few of them holding the title of "southernmost WWFM for (insert year here)". Now, Wellington can experience it, with the aim of being the southernmost capital city to host a WWFM event.
The idea is to synchronise the time to 10:00am on Saturday 23rd August in San Diego, so this means the event here in Wellington is at 5:00am on Sunday 24th August.
I'll keep it simple for Wellington's first WWFM. The dress code is as follows: wear something, anything, that is sporty in nature. I'll be that guy and say that card and board games do not count (so no chess or bridge gear), but e-sports are fine.
- If you do not play any sports, this is fine - you can come in supporters' gear or merchandise. This means that finding an All Blacks flag and wearing it like a toga is valid (but please consider the wintry weather!)
- Your entire outfit does not need to be sports-related. A beanie of your favourite football team is enough.
Event time: Sunday August 24th, 5:00am-5:30am (yes, "5am" is correct!)

Event activities: A 5:00am catch-up, a group photo, and possibly recording all our lovely voices to send into the podcast. Also, assuming they arrive in time, you get pathtags. We're probably not going to get too many bystanders at 5:00am on a Sunday morning, so there won't be much in terms of "flashmob the locals".
Event invitees: YOU. And also me.
To offset what I imagine will be cold weather, I will bring a thermos of hot chocolate. First in, best dressed warmest drinks.
