ABCs of Geocaching & Math
This is a series that is intended to show the connection between a hobby I enjoy and a career I love. I recently began to notice the connection between many of the terms used in both geocaching and math. Some are interchangeable while others are connected, though differently. My goal is to show some common, and some not so common, geocaching terms and then share how that term is used in math.
A is for Angles
In geocaching it's all about the angles to see what we need to see and spot the cache! A few degrees off and it could be right in front of us and we don't make the find.
In math angles are formed by two rays sharing a vertex. They are measured in degrees between 0 and 360, or radians between 0 and 2π.
This hide is very typical in the geocaching world. The hint tells where and what. Standing at GZ you should have the correct angle to locate the cache. The container lid is attached.
Please re-hide all caches as found. If there are questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me via messenger.
