What Are Hex Signs?
Hex signs are a traditional form of Pennsylvania Dutch folk art, often painted on barns and outbuildings. They first appeared in the early 19th century and typically feature geometric designs, stars, hearts, birds, and tulips. While some see them as purely decorative, others believe each symbol holds special meaning, such as luck, protection, abundance, or fertility.
The six-point rosette shown here is one of the most popular hex sign patterns. It’s said to bring good luck in life, and now, in your geocaching adventures!
