Change happens, sometimes because it is needed or for a better outcome.
Looking north from this bridge on either side of the river, you will see two areas that were previously farmed. They are now being converted to wetlands as they are on a floodplain. Wetlands contribute have many benefits. Some are water purification, shoreline stabilization, carbon sink action, storm protection and flood control. They create habitats for pollinators and wildlife. Many trees have been planted here.
This concrete bridge replaced an old iron bridge. Safety concerns about the structure sadly outweighed the character of this often photographed part of the landscape.
