Geocache Description:

US 301 is a spur of US Route 1, running through the South Atlantic States. It runs 1,099 miles from Biddles Corner, Delaware at Delaware Route 1 to Sarasota, Florida at US 41. It passes through the states of Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. It continues through the cities of Waldorf and La Plata, Maryland (where we are from) and southward through Petersburg, VA, Rocky Mount, Wilson and Fayetteville NC, Florence, SC, Statesboro and Jessup, Georgia and Jacksonville, Ocala and Sarasota Florida.

Because of the areas of farm land it passed through in the past, it had been known as the Tobacco Trail, prior to its renaming in 1960 to the Miss Universe Highway.

Because we are from Maryland, Rt 301 in Maryland had a special past to us. It included a “Little Las Vegas” era in Charles County MD. In the mid 20th century, the area along Route 301, particulary around Waldorf, was known for its casinos and slot machines. This era ended in 1968 when gambling was outlawed.

To sign the log for this challenge cache, you must have found at least one cache in each of the 7 states that Rt. 301 travels through; that is Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.

The hide itself is a 1.5/1.5. It is at a very appropriate but very muggly location.
