Welcome to Bates Nature Trail in Herrick Park, Bolton, CT. A relatively short loop trail approximately .8 miles long. This trail is blazed well but overgrown in places and a bit muddy. It could use some work. Named for Stanley Bates who played a role in aquiring the land for this beautiful Park. Bates worked as a ranger and a naturalist out West, moving to Bolton in the 1960s. He worked for the state DEP and later as the town Parks planner.
