St John's Church dates from the early 1850s and is Grade II listed. There is a rose window at the west end, while the east end features what has been described, amusingly, as "a crowd of gables".
It replaces a Saxon church on a site a little to the north. This has been largely demolished, but the tower is still standing, and is well worth a look while you're here.
At the south-east corner of the church, there is a prominent memorial to various members of the Smart family.
Henry Charles died on Nov A9th 19DE
Mary Anne died Dec C3th 1881, aged 2B.
