A Sunday post breakfast short event to help cachers in Shrewsbury on the Bank Holiday weekend identify each other, and with luck meet some local cachers .
Meet You ( hopefully I will not be the only one ... ) there at the given co-ordinates between 10.45 am and 11.15 am for a little geo-chat and tb swappage. The location is near the turning point on Gravel Hill Lane, I shall be lurking in the area studiously studying a GPS ... As well as visitors it would be great if local cachers could come along, especially those who have set some of the excellent caches in the area so we can say thank you .
Parking a car at or near here will not be possible, and driving on the winding streets of Shrewsbury on a Bank Holiday weekend will be very difficult, (see the background image, which was taken in town on a similar Bank Holiday weekend) so I'd suggest parking elsewhere and walking to the event if you are not just staggering out of your tent: it is an interesting wander along Pig Trough and the footpath through the houses from the town centre. The nature of that path, narrow, twisty, and with many uneven steps (or alternatively the need to camp overnight) gives the event the high terrain rating , in case you were wondering if you needed to climb a tree or something: once you manage to get there, GZ itself is fine for buggies, wheelchairs and less mobile cachers.
What if it rains ? Well, it is a Bank Holiday, so that's a distinct possibility ... The answer is, we get wet.
If you've thought about attending an event, but are worried there will be a bunch of folk there who already know each other and you'll feel left out, this is your perfect starter: attendees standing around here (in whatever weather the weekend offers) are strangers from all over the country, but instant caching friends on arrival.
