We all know it from the 1986 classic movie, the scene when we held our breath watching Vern and Gordie outrun the train, then at the last minute dive off the tracks and roll down the bank. Watch it *here* if you are younger than 50 and/or haven't seen this nostalgic masterpiece.
14 year old JeanJeanie and her best friend would frequent this area on our almost daily walks (patrols??) around the Domain, hoping a train would pass overhead the same time we were under it. Further up the track, up the hill, there used to be an old high viewing platform, just big enough for a couple of besties to climb and chat the afternoon away with the dog resting in the grass about 5m below us. We'd make it home in time for tea. The 80s were a magical time.
