Tanjung Batu is one of Bintuluβs most scenic coastal gems, where golden sands meet the restless waves of the South China Sea. Loved by locals for its cool breeze, dramatic rock formations, and breathtaking sunsets, the beach also hides something rare: two natural tombolos. These sandy pathways only appear in full during low tide, creating natural βbridgesβ between rocky islets and the mainland.

π¬π§ A tombolo is a natural sand or gravel ridge that connects an island to the mainland, or links two islands together. It forms when waves and currents deposit sediments in a narrow strip, creating a natural βbridgeβ across the water.
π²πΎ Tombolo ialah beting pasir atau kerikil semula jadi yang menghubungkan sebuah pulau dengan tanah besar, atau menghubungkan dua pulau. Ia terbentuk apabila ombak dan arus laut mendepositkan sedimen dalam bentuk jalur sempit, lalu membentuk βjambatanβ semula jadi merentasi laut.

π¬π§ At Tanjung Batu, not one but two tombolos appear side by side, a rare natural formation. During low tide, sandy ridges stretch into the sea like twin pathways, making this one of the few places in the world where visitors can walk across a pair of tombolos.

π¬π§ Tombolos form due to wave refraction, when waves bend around islands or headlands. As wave energy decreases, sediments are deposited in sheltered areas, eventually forming a sandy link. At Tanjung Batu, the combination of waves, tides, and currents has created two parallel tombolos side by side.
π²πΎ Tombolo terbentuk melalui pembiasan ombak, apabila ombak membelok mengelilingi pulau atau tanjung. Apabila tenaga ombak berkurang, sedimen mendap di kawasan terlindung, lalu membentuk sambungan berpasir. Di Tanjung Batu, gabungan ombak, pasang surut, dan arus laut telah menghasilkan dua tombolo selari yang berdampingan.
